Hi

Canvasland has a major part to play when it comes to keeping a lot of people protected from the weather, be it sun, wind or rain. Shade sails still continue to be a popular choice for many who are looking for an attractive and sturdy shade solution. Sails are still one of the more ideal options for commercial properties or at schools and educational facilities where shade protection is needed on a daily basis.

As far as the residential market is concerned, lateral arm awnings are proving to be a winner. These wall or soffit mounted awnings provide a versatile shade solution, which can be rolled back when not required. The simple crank handle gearbox system allows for easy use on the awnings. Alternatively an electric remote control system can be fitted which also includes a wind sensor.

More and more people are discovering that PVC curtains are not just an option for the kindy or cafe down the road. They also work just as well providing addtional space and year round weather protection at home. Canvasland has a number of great curtain systems, including the Ziptrack Curtain. Ziptrack is a spring loaded curtain which is fixed to the property via a powder coated track system. The curtain is fitted to a spring loaded roller which in conjuction with the tracks provides a strong tensioned curtain while down. Ziptrack is a custom made and installed product that ensures a perfect fit and attractive finish to any home.

Waikanae Pool - It's Shade All Round

A variety of shade solutions were installed at the Waikanae Outdoor Pool recently. Four Liberty side arm umbrellas were positioned around the toddlers pool, where the idea was  to provide a flexible shade option to cover familes while taking a cool dip.  With the Liberty's 360 deg rotation, the umbrellas can provide shade to a number of different areas of the pool throughout the day (see photo at top of page).  Another 6 Shademakers centre post umbrellas were also supplied to shelter picnic tables around the park.

Four 6 x 6 mtr and an 8 x 8 mtr shade sails were installed into the grass area of the complex providing relaxing picnic areas, while seven smaller sails were installed to enhance and shelter the main entrance way and canteen. (see photo at top of page).

Riversdale Park Shade Sails

These two 8 x 8 shade sails were recently installed at the Waiarapa Beachside community of Riversdale. Given the sandy ground conditions, the installation of the poles needed some additional reinforcing to ensure they didn't move under the tension of the sail. While the poles are buried in concrete at the usual 1.2mtr depth, a reinforcing technique commonly known as a "deadman" was used to provide extra stability. The "deadman" involves a concrete block to be poured in front of each pole to provide resistance against the sail. This technique is proven and is common practice for our team when installing around beach areas.

Churton Park Kind - Ziptrack Curtains

Seven Ziptrack curtains were installed at the Churton Park Kindy's soon to be play area.  The staff were looking for an area that would be sheltered and cool to play under during the summer months, and yet protected from the elements during the winter.  The curtain system now allows the little ones to be able to enjoy the likes of  waterplay and other summer associated activities during the winter.

Wellington Cafe Gets New Umbrellas

A new waterfront cafe in Central Wellington wanted to enhance an outdoor area where customers could enjoy while having a meal.  It was decided that these two 4 x 4mtr Asteral T umbrellas would do the trick.  The umbrellas are specifically manufactured with the commercial market in mind.  They are fixed into the pavement with custom made stainless steel slugs, which are chemset into the ground.  This solid foundation along with the sturdy frame is what helps provide the umbrella with it's strength to withstand the typical windy Wellington conditions.  The acrylic canvas skin on the umbrella's also comes up smart with a little screen printed branding.  The umbrellas in the picture are the 7th umbrella installation we have done for this popular coffee house.

Picnic Promotional Inflatable

A major project that was worked on in the lead up to Christmas, was this impressive land based inflatable obstacle course.  A huge amount of digital printing was applied to the inflatable components to replicate the product the unit was to represent.  This 20mtr long structure used in excess of 350mtrs of material and weighs close to 800kg.  Although big and heavy, the set up is generally straight forward with the obstacles able to be erected and  ready to go within 20mins.
